Big room, good location.

Breakfast is poor, maybe because we went at 9.30. Buffet dinner is good but expensive (a la carte works cheaper). Place feels a bit "soviet" (lots of staff only doing the minimum, oppressive reception area). No pool bar. Needs money spending on it - neglected since first opened

Great place to stay for a couple of days.

Lovely big rooms. Balcony to which monkeys paid visits. Surprise every night when a towelling animal would appear on the bed. Excellent room service from 2 young staff who took great pride in their work and were always available and helpful - as well as taking the time to decorate the bed. Manager and front desk staff were very helpful when we had an issue with our dates. They sorted everything for us. Went on a safari organised by the hotel. Very efficient. Swimming pool and grounds lovely and very relaxing.

Everywhere was a bit dark.

Great resort

Fantastic resort. We were upgraded to a grand suit on arrival. Massive rooms and very comfortable. Set near the national park. Really nice staff on reception. Pool was great and the lifeguard is the nicest man.

Food was not great. Which is a shame as Sri Lankan food is fantastic.

Good stop off hotel to do a safari. One night stay would be plenty.

Hotel itself is pretty basic and pool area is not ideal. Quite Dated.

The stuff was really extremly friendly and helpful. The helped me with useful Information. I also really enjoyed the Swimmingpool and the Gym. The food in the restaurant was quite good.

Exceptional hotel

The ultimate luxury hotel with incredible service, incredible food and facilities. Rooms and bathroom were to an incredibly high standard and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. it’s also just outside the National park (organise a safari with the hotel!) and the drive into the park from the hotel is also breathtaking.

The grounds were gorgeous and the room was like nowhere I’ve...

The grounds were gorgeous and the room was like nowhere I’ve ever stayed. It felt like we were in a treehouse! It was clean and beautiful. I felt so relaxed.

The only thing I didn’t like is that I only booked 1 night. I wish we could’ve stayed a week. It was an amazing hotel.

Location. Proximity to the national park

No wifi in rooms this was a real issue considering we booked the suite and then couldn’t spend anytime enjoying it as no wifi so we had to sit by the pool (in the rain) Dated resort with buffet eating, the food was ok but not great

Mixed feelings about this property.

Mixed feelings about this property. It has a great Safari feel, fantastic staff and it was very to the tourist attractions.

Photos clearly taken in the hotels ‘heyday’. In reality the hotel seems run down and requires revamping. Four star seems too generous in it current state, 3 star more realistic. Could feel like a 5 star if re vamped.

Nice place close to the national park and elephant orphanage.

The hotel is nice, the pool is nice. The breakfast was included in our room rate was was great with a large selection.

The food and drink prices were very expensive, we decided to eat out side the hotel at a local place even though there isn’t much around, they price themselves out for the ordinary traveler. It was some of the most expensive we have seen in hotels. The aircon was like a huge machine going on all night it was sooo noisy.... we had to turn it off and put up with the heat to sleep. The noise from the roof, probably monkeys was very loud, best to choose a ground floor to avoid the running on the roof noise. We had no hot water which they fixed , but it took about an hour, they kindly let me shower in a vacant room and did offer to allow me to move rooms if we wanted.

Two nights are too much

The setting with the surrounding Forrest with all the trees and birds is very nice. The staff is very friendly. In general a typical big hotel.

Noisy and very loud AC. You could also hear your neighbors very good (a woman next to us coughed the whole night...). In general you can see that the hotel is a Little old already which also the previous comments mention. But apparently the heared the comments and are now starting to renovate the place. When we were there there were (noisy) renovations going on on the ground floor.

We are a family of four 2 kids 9 and 5.

We are a family of four 2 kids 9 and 5. The hotel have a great pool, nice staff and good food. We were really pleased with all of the service. The room was perfect and had fast internet connection which always helps when travelling with small kids.

Can’t recommend the Grand Udawalawe Safari Resort highly enough. It was outstanding.

Lovely clean rooms, amazing service, staff were always obliging and went out of their way to help us. The setting is spectacular and so close to the national park for safari tours.

The food in the restaurant was amazing ! Staff in the hotel was very helpful except for the manager.

The manager wasn’t really helpful when we had a request, especially since we were the only customers in the hotel !

The staff, room, swimming pool and all other facilities were...

The staff, room, swimming pool and all other facilities were excellent. The safari was one of the best experiences of our lives and thoroughly recommend.

Due to the lack of customers we felt that the restaurant menu could have been reduced as to get better quality. A vast menu and all 3 of our evening meals were poor unfortunately, and the most expensive meals we had in Sri Lanka. When tourism picks up again and they are busier I’m sure the quality will be there again, shame.
